Safety Policy

Safety isn't a slogan. It's how we protect our customers, our team, and the properties we're trusted with every day.

This Safety Policy applies to all TAB divisions: TAB Home Services, TAB Plumbing, TAB Doors & Gates, and TAB Facilities.

1. Our Safety Promise

We treat every home, rental, and facility the way we'd want our own family or staff treated. That means we will:

  • Put people before speed or shortcuts
  • Follow all applicable codes, regulations, and manufacturer instructions
  • Keep your property as clean, orderly, and safe as the work allows
  • Stop work and reassess if something doesn't look or feel safe

If we're ever in a situation where "fast and cheap" conflicts with "safe and right," we choose safe and right.

2. Licensed, Trained, and Vetted Technicians

TAB sends only qualified people into your property.

  • We use licensed tradespeople where the law requires it (plumbing and other regulated trades)
  • We provide ongoing training on technical skills and safety practices
  • Our team members are screened and vetted before entering homes, rentals, or facilities

If you ever have a concern about anyone on your property representing TAB, we want to hear about it immediately.

3. On-Site Safety Practices

Our technicians follow basic, non-negotiable safety practices on every job:

  • Jobsite assessment: We walk the area first, identify hazards, and plan the work
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE): We use appropriate PPE (gloves, eye protection, hearing protection, and masks or respirators when required)
  • Tools and equipment: We use tools that are in good condition and appropriate for the job
  • Electrical and gas safety: We treat gas lines, electrical panels, and powered systems with extra caution
  • Ladders and working at heights: We place and use ladders safely

If a situation on site is unsafe—because of conditions, other contractors, or anything else—our team is instructed to pause work and contact a supervisor.

4. Respect for Occupants

Many of the spaces we work in are occupied—by families, tenants, staff, and children. We take that seriously.

While on your property, our team will:

  • Identify themselves clearly as TAB staff
  • Be respectful and professional in language and behavior
  • Follow your reasonable house rules when compatible with safe work
  • Keep tools and materials as organized and contained as practical
  • Be especially cautious in schools, childcare centers, and facilities with vulnerable populations

5. Cleanliness and Work Area Protection

A messy work area is often a less safe work area. We will:

  • Use drop cloths, protective covers, and dust control where appropriate
  • Keep walkways as clear as practical during work
  • Store tools and materials in a way that minimizes trip hazards
  • Collect and dispose of our job-related trash and debris when the job is complete

6. Safety Around Doors, Gates, and Moving Equipment

Doors, gates, and moving systems are a big part of our work and a big part of your safety. When working on doors and gates, we will:

  • Test and confirm locks, latches, and closers are working as intended
  • Verify safety devices on automatic gates are installed and functioning
  • Clearly communicate any temporary limitations
  • Never bypass, disable, or remove a safety device as a shortcut
